WE HAVE ARRIVED

Well, it has happened. velocache.net is now a fully operational battle station. Prepare yourselves.

Before I digress, which I am known to do, let me start off by giving some credit and handing out some thanks. This would not have happened without you all. You know who you are. Thank you. The new site would not be in existance without Buttars, if you run into him, give him a hug and buy him a beer. HUGE thank yous to the veterans out there who have kept this afloat in times of trouble and triumph...I have personal things to say to you that will have to wait until we have a face to face.

At the pokercache party on September 19 I would really like to take a bit of all of your time and preach a little about "the game". We'll see, I will probably just get drunk and cry a lot.

SO. Go to the site. Familiarize yourself. It is different than the one we play on now but can do all of the things we do now AND MUCH MUCH MORE. You will need to create an account. It is free and always will be for players. I realize some of you have already been in and have looked around but it is time for everyone to come on board. Texting from a phone to the site works. E-mailing too. There is a great forum feature that we can all cache ourselves in as well. This site is still in beta. It is not finished so now is the time to see if we can break it.

For now, play around. Posting "real" caches is not off limits but I think it might serve us better to get really comfortable with the new toy before we go "live". Post pictures of your cats and dogs. Go to the forum and talk about bikes. Have fun.

LOVE to you all. -A. Mortician

Rules Reminder, Newbies, Smackdown

Since we are headed into a really big event and our beloved Velocache is going to hibernate for a day or so... I would like to say a few words.

As Velovixen reminds me to be nice and I was once a beginner also - alas, my pirate side is winning out...

To all newbies and people who think they may want to play and a refreshere for us all -
READ THE RULES!

Here they are for your convenience:

"Take a picture or two from the exact location of your cache showing the surrounding area. It may be as obscure as you can dream, or in the spirit of Velo, a more well-known spot to keep the race for the prize quick. Take another picture of the spot where the cache is hidden. Your cache should be planted (buried, insinuated, camouflaged, etc) in the same spot the picture was taken, or very close, so when a Velocache participant finds your cache, they will be sharing your unique perspective, secret spot, state of mind?, etc. "

So don't take pictures of a front of a building and the back of the building - there is no freaking way the cache can have both perspectives!

"Once you have found a cache, add a comment under the appropriate post letting us know the cache has been located. Once your pictures have been posted (by contacting us at Velocache) the post will be updatded and credit given. You are now obligated to hide your own cache, adding a note and the bottle opener, or maybe one from your collection. You do not have to find a cache first to drop one."

So if you find one - post it "found" so the rest of us won't beat your ass for a bike ride and frantic searching we thought was going to score a cache that was picked up hours ago! And practice good karma - pick one up - drop one off!

AND VERY IMPORTANT FOR SECURITY - Put the blog address -http://www.boisevelocache.blogspot.com/ on the package. No one wants a mystery package to send their ass to jail!

And remember, if I can find a cache I can find your ass and you will be made to walk the plank if you don't follow the rules.

Sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner,
Sometimes I feel like my only friend.
It's the city that loves me,
the city of.... ahhh.... Tree-ees.
Lonely as I am, together we cry.

GyPsiE P's Pic from Blackhappy's multicache

399 found

As I arrived at work this morning at 6am there were three ant covered, crushed Pabst cans near the back door. I figured some hobos must have been ducking out of the rain. Seems I was wrong, they were actually the remnants of what seems to be a long night of stashing by the triplettes of velocache. I was at work for twelve hours with absolutely no idea a cache was right there under my nose, as well as Douchebag, and Meloys. It wasn't until I was tipped off by Douchebag after we had all gone home that it all came together. So naturally I called up Ralphie and away we went, nothing goes better with fosters than smarties. Thanks ladies.

Sorry to anyone that rolled out hunting for these after I grabbed them. I wasn't able to comment on the site from my mobile, so I've had em for almost 4 hours now.
My Mom & Dad went on a cache-finding rampage and all I got was this pink-haired doll and a few beers I can't figure out how to open! Signed, L38.5
