WE HAVE ARRIVED

Well, it has happened. velocache.net is now a fully operational battle station. Prepare yourselves.

Before I digress, which I am known to do, let me start off by giving some credit and handing out some thanks. This would not have happened without you all. You know who you are. Thank you. The new site would not be in existance without Buttars, if you run into him, give him a hug and buy him a beer. HUGE thank yous to the veterans out there who have kept this afloat in times of trouble and triumph...I have personal things to say to you that will have to wait until we have a face to face.

At the pokercache party on September 19 I would really like to take a bit of all of your time and preach a little about "the game". We'll see, I will probably just get drunk and cry a lot.

SO. Go to the site. Familiarize yourself. It is different than the one we play on now but can do all of the things we do now AND MUCH MUCH MORE. You will need to create an account. It is free and always will be for players. I realize some of you have already been in and have looked around but it is time for everyone to come on board. Texting from a phone to the site works. E-mailing too. There is a great forum feature that we can all cache ourselves in as well. This site is still in beta. It is not finished so now is the time to see if we can break it.

For now, play around. Posting "real" caches is not off limits but I think it might serve us better to get really comfortable with the new toy before we go "live". Post pictures of your cats and dogs. Go to the forum and talk about bikes. Have fun.

LOVE to you all. -A. Mortician

MEET AND GREET

What would a velocache party be without actually velocaching it right? SO here is the deal, expect to see it go up on Friday, April 17. There are some things you need to know:
1. You will need money. 10$ gets you food and beer for the first part of the night, this aspect will be the "official" meet and greet and I would say if you want to make it to the second part, pace yourself accordingly. Don't think that this part was set up for us exclusively, we are crashing an ongoing concern, so be nice! This thing goes off at 5ish and goes till 8ish.
2. The second half is a whole other enchilada. FIRST AND FOREMOST if you decide to undertake this endeavor, you will be doing it knowing that dangers lurk around every corner. we will not be held accountable for anything. period.
3. The second half will be pretty democratic. We will all need to figure a few things out. We will need donations to cover the cost of "incidentals" and hope that isn't too much to ask. I am not going to say too much about that because enough hints have been dropped.
4. Kids are probably allowed at the first event but that is a really bad idea and we wish that you would not bring them. We are going to plan a really awesome family event this summer so hold off bringing the little ones until then.
5. Do you like my rules so far? I am making them up as I go along.
6. All velocachers will greet each other with a great big hug.
7. Be ready with lots of lights and a bike that you can ride with one hand.
8. Helmets are a good idea.
9. I really should be consulting Sore Bloke as I write this.
10. I took today off and had quite a few beers last night.
11. What is funny is that even after I post this, you will have almost exactly the same amount of information that you have had for at least 2 weeks.
12. cameras, cameras, cameras. video cameras if you have them. obviously it will be at night so think about that when it comes to documentation.
13. no reporters.
14. no republicans.
15. If you wish to eschew the first event for the second, that is ok, just know that the real camaraderie will begin early.
16. cool it on velocaching for the next few days, Sore Bloke and I are planning multiple events right now so give us a break. I don't expect you to follow this rule.
17. Please comment below if you plan on attending any or all of the festivities.
